Channels and Recording process

Channels are the preview panels of your sources where you can configure what source should be used, what destinations should be used for recording, and control the recording process.

Number of channels for previewing you can select by Set the view mode button (in the top-right corner of main window):

1, 4, 9 or 16 channels layout

The default view of a single channel is:

When you open the top-left list with sources, you can select the source for preview and further recording. Once selected, you can see the video on a preview. With the list of destinations in the top-right corner of a channel, you can choose what destinations should be used for recording:

If there are multiple destinations, you can select several ones for the recording of the selected source.

If needed, you can enable the audio preview with the Sound button below the audio meters. Also, you can select audio preview renderer device by right-clicking on the Sound button:

Once done, you can start the recording using the Rec button (bottom-left corner):

When recording is in progress, you can see what sources and what destinations are in use. And control the recording with Pause, Stop, and Split buttons.

Also, while the recording is in progress, you can monitor the process with the statistics panel (bottom-right corner). The following data is available:

  • Duration of the recording

  • Input frame rate (fps in)

  • Frame rate of the recording (fps out)

  • Number of breaks (no frame on the input)

  • Number of drops (not enough performance to encode the video)

  • Number of the buffered frames

The In Sync option is required for the synchronous recording. Please see the next article.
